Earl Johnson’s chosen one, Kevin Gleason, sentenced to jail.

During a hearing before Superior Court Judge Peter A. Velis, former chief of police Kevin Gleason was sentenced to two years in prison. The jail sentence will be followed by three years of probation.

Earl Johnson’s buddy Kevin Gleason admitted to three crimes; all three were larcenies over $250, one of which was by scheme. Gleason took more than $2,000.00 of cash that had been seized during drug raids and collected $1,600.00 as reimbursement for training he never attended or paid for. “Kevin-P.-Gleason-before-Judge-Velis.”
Photo by Dan Gould, Worcester Telegram & Gazette

His guilty plea and the form of the hearing are consistent with the procedure whereby an accused accepts a deal offered by the prosecutor. There was no trial.

Earl Johnson’s buddy will have to report to the Hampden County Correctional Center in Ludlow on Monday September 28. Part of the plea was also that Kevin P. Gleason will pay $9,934.00 in restitution to the town.

According to assistant District Attorney James C. Orenstein, Earl Johnson’s companion Kevin Gleason admitted the following crimes:

Gleason purchased firearms with taxpayers money and sold some of them and the ones he replaced with the new guns to licensed dealers and individuals. The funds he kept for himself. The Holland Blog reported about this exclusively in the piece, Ex Police Chief Gleason before Federal Grand Jury?

His second crime he admitted to is a larceny of $650.00. The taxpayer of Holland paid for a conference that took place in Saybrook, CT. Gleason cancelled and kept the refund.

His third crime was the theft of $2,190.00 from the evidence locker for which Gleason had the only key. The funds were seized by another Holland police officer in a drug arrest. The Holland Blog was informed about the incident by an anonymous reader and filed a public information request under the freedom of information act to obtain a copy of the report. After an initial refusal to produce the requested information, the Holland Blog appealed the decision to William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Public Records Division. On August 4, 2009, Alan N.Cote affirmed the decision not to produce a copy of the report stating, “According, to the records responsive to your request are part of an ongoing case, the disclosure of which would jeopardize said case, this office will consider your administrative appeal closed.” Click here to read the letter.

Judge Velis punished Gleason with the maximum sentence of two years (if the $9,934.00 is a fine). Without a monetary fine, the maximum sentence would be five years. The question is whether the $9,934.00 is technically a fine or not, see M.G.L. c.266, s.30.

Just Imagine
If Kevin Gleason gets 2 years for crimes that ammounted to less than 10k then just imagine how much time Earl and BJ are gonna get when they get there's. Not to mention Wetflower and Fife. I think the same DA and investigatirs should take a good look into anything they've had their paws in. Good Luck Kev. I think they should let you go as long as you tell us everything you know about corruption in Holland.

I think the Johnson's have been waiting a long time to see that picture. They just thought it would be someone else in the photo.
Karma??

I wish you well Kevin. I saw your child at Pow Wow .She is in good hands.
Anytime you want to come clean about Johnsons involvement in the persecution of me and my family ...the election flyers......the interference in the restraining order..... I am willing to remove you from the Federal case in exchange for your co operation.

Final Inventory
There is no doubt that they did not find it all. The evidence that has been taken in over the last seven years. Where did it go? Guns, ammo, This was just a portion. And no one knew what was going on? Maybe someone else was involved. Every invoice for the police department for the last 7 years should be scrutinized. Computers, items bought in bulk, how about the Holland Police Assn. monies. where did that go over the years. Who was the last person with the check book.

Lawsuits
When the dust settles, just remember what he cost the town. It far surpassed what you heard about. The lawsuits and the cost, wow!
Holland is again being laughed at. A history of "Bad Chiefs' NOT ALL OF THEM. But we have sure had a few. Good luck in our future. The department we have now, has a long road of them. The police department has not been respected by many of the people of holland for a long time. And ..... what is next.

Bigger crimes are being committed in Holland
A few thousand dollars doesn't hurt our community in the long run as much as the proposed truck stop... think about it!
Stealing money everybody understands, the impact of a truck stop requires a little bit more on the cognitive level.

Golden Boy
A while back on this Blog someone commented on the fact that the former Chief should not adorn his uniform in gold. The writer stated that Kevin Gleason should be publically stripped of the gold assesories. Said it dishonored those who earned the right to wear gold. Such as retired Master Chief Arthur Quinn.

The picture of Gleason is living proof that sometimes wishes do come true.

Thank you powers of the universe.

What next
This town has really gone to hell! And it's all thanks to the self serving BOS who keep appointing these worthless candidates to office for their own personal gain - especially Johnson & Wettlaufer. Wake up people and get these idiots out of office before no one wants to live here anymore. Enough is enough!!!!!!!

WAKE UP PEOPLE!
I hope everyone is paying attention here. Kevin Gleason was nothing more than a puppet. The Puppet Master is Earl Johnson. Johnson had Gleason harass Stacey Quinones... Isn't it obvious? Jeez.... with Earl in control of the highway department and, until Gleason resigned, the police department, Earl Johnson was unstoppable! I REALLY hope the DA's office offers Kevin a deal to ROLL OVER on EARL. That is what Holland really needs! There is no way Earl Johnson didn't know what was going on. NO WAY. He drove around with Gleason in the squad car, they ate at Hoo Ya's several times a week.... If Johnson was not in on this...her certainly helped cover for Gleason hoping to save his own ass. Wettlaufer is no better for Holland. The long term impact of the truckstop he wants in is FAR MORE costly and detrimental to the community than any amount of money, guns, training or drugs that Kevin Gleason stole. How can anyone think Jim LaMountain or Peter Frei are the bad guys now??? All they are guilty of is wanting a better town, speaking up to get it, and then having to defend themselves against the real crooks. like I already said, WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Wettlaufer Lies
Listen to Wettlaufer being quoted in the other newspapers as saying Gleason betrayed the public trust.. Wettlaufer was told of this betrayal a year and a half ago and called the allegations garbage. Our Selectmen covered up for Gleason and we had to go to the inspector generals office to have this done. There are many documented illegal acts by Johnson and False reports to state agencies By Wettlaufer.

I don't know if they too will go to prison and become someones girlfriend but I pray they do.
The only surprise our Selectmen experienced in all this is learning Gleason got caught.

Kevin P. Gleason, this looser tried to set me up for drug sales!
Well, Well, Well, look who's going to jail! The looser that tried to lock me up on lies! This sad excuse for a police chief lied on an affidavit in 2003 and raided my house. All charges were dismissed since I was in the hospital (ICU) when Kevin P. Gleason swore I was home selling pot!

Have fun in jail Kevin, it's where you belong!

Hope more of your crimes come to light!

History repeats itself!
For the second time now, a town official close to Earl Johnson was sentenced to jail.
It was back in 1994 when Jim Foley as selectmen cleaned up the pigsty Earl Johnson created at the town hall. At the time Earl Johnson was one of the elected tax assessors and failed to collect $183,463.00 over a period of 16 years; $60,777.00 during fiscal 1994 alone.
But it was Jean Rozema, the tax collector who took the fall. She worked together with Earl Johnson and watched him conveying town owned property to his family without paying a dime. As Gleason, she must have assumed that she can do the same and embezzled at least $110,000.00.
Rozema was eventually sentenced to serve 4 to 7 years in Framingham State Prison for her crime. She served 11 month and was released on five years probation, Earl Johnson got away with it and to this day was never held accountable.
As a matter of fact, the voters of Holland re-elected him for the position as tax assessor during the annual elections this past June to show their appreciation.

Voters of Holland, don’t forget to re-elect Earl next June for the seat on the Board of Selectmen together with his son Brian for the Highway department and “keep the team together.” Holland voters seem to think that they do not deserve any better!

Republican
Great article at the republican at masslive.com which is the springfield republican website. Mentions Johnson as a defendant in the quinonnes case with Gleason. When you get to the site type gleason in the upper search box. Feel free to comment. If you compare the Wettlaufer Quotes in that paper with quotes in other papers they contradict each other. Could Wettlaufer be lying?? They also mentioned this site by name in the article.

Republican article

HOLLAND - One of former police chief Kevin P. Gleason's toughest critics said he felt bad for him. But another said he should have been forced out last year. And a selectman described it as a sad day for the town of Holland.

The sentencing of Gleason to two years in jail on larceny charges Monday in Hampden Superior Court in Springfield put an end to his career in the tiny town where he was the highest paid employee at $56,542.

Selectmen Chairman James E. Wettlaufer said of the sentencing, "He chose to steal taxpayer money.

"The judge realized he was not a regular police officer and held him to a higher standard," he said.

Gleason pleaded guilty to larceny by scheme over $250 and two counts of larceny over $250. He purchased 14 guns over four years with town funds and resold them to licensed dealers and individuals, keeping the sale money. He also admitted to taking money for a conference that he was supposed to attend in Connecticut and stealing $2,190 from a police evidence locker, money from a drug arrest.

Gleason was ordered by Judge Peter A. Velis to pay the town back nearly $10,000 from his retirement funds.

Wettlaufer said he supported Assistant District Attorney James C. Orenstein's recommendation for a jail term to let the police officers and residents know "this was not a minor mistake by an employee but a crime that will be punished."

In court Gleason's lawyer said of his client, "There are no excuses; he accepts responsibility for what he's done." William Kring said Gleason is "suffering immensely" from his actions and the embarrassment it has caused his family.

The guilty plea wasn't the first stain on Gleason's career.

article continued
Two years ago, the town's insurance company paid $50,000 to plaintiff Stacey A. Quinones, a former part-time police officer who accused Gleason of sexual harassment. Selectmen emphasized at the time that there was no admission of guilt.

Quinones had filed a civil suit against the town, Gleason and Selectman Earl A. Johnson in June 2005, a year after she was fired from her police job. The suit stated that Gleason told Quinones he would shoot her sister-in-law for her, and made a sexual comment.

The issue of the suit was raised on the online blog about Holland, www.01521.com, run by resident Peter K. Frei, who has long criticized Gleason and the selectmen and has had legal battles with them over property issues.

James P. LaMountain, who was arrested after painting a crosswalk on a street a few years ago and is prominently featured on the blog, said he feels bad for Gleason. He said he sent the former chief an e-mail after he heard Gleason was suffering from anxiety, telling him to stay strong for the sake of his young daughter.

"I don't like to dance on people's corpses," LaMountain said.

But LaMountain said people are embarrassed by the negative publicity surrounding the town due to Gleason. LaMountain said his son's girlfriend, Geri-Jean Twining, tried to get selectmen to remove Gleason last year. She cited the Quinones case and other allegations behind her request, which she said the selectmen did not take seriously.

Twining said she took action because others were afraid to speak up. Hearing that Gleason was sent to jail didn't surprise her, Twining said.

"To be honest with you, I'm really ecstatic," Twining said.

Wettlaufer said selectmen were unable to say anything during the investigation, which frustrated some. Gleason resigned in May, citing health reasons. Wettlaufer said the selectmen told him to resign, to save Gleason the disgrace of being led out of the building in handcuffs.

"He knew what he had done," Wettlaufer said.

Wettlaufer said an officer suspected that the evidence money had been taken. He credited Selectmen Christian Petersen for doing "yeoman's work on the investigation." He said the board began noticing problems when police items the board signed warrants for were missing. Selectmen began taking a closer look at Gleason last fall and enlisted the help of the state police.

"We started looking and saw our worst fears realized," Wettlaufer said.

Wettlaufer said the 47-year-old Gleason was well-liked and respected by the community, and that "he just tossed that away."

In fact, Gleason, who had been on the department since 2001, came highly recommended by the former chief to replace him. In 2002, Gleason was picked to be chief over candidates that applied from all over the country.

Sgt. Bryan Haughey, acting police chief, said the department will move on and do its best to regain the community's trust and restore integrity.

"It's been difficult. Trust has been betrayed by one person's actions; unfortunately, in the court of public opinion it tarnishes all law enforcement officers to some level," Haughey said in an e-mail.

Said Johnson, "It was a sad day for the town of Holland."

Wettlaufer in this article is quoted as saying he was frustrated at being unable to say anything.. Another lie by our crooked tounge chairman. He said plenty. He said it was normal procedure to do an inventory after a chief leaves amongst other things. People there are many things Wettlaufer could had said including "no comment" . Instead he made a consious choice to lie to the people who elected him. A lie was not needed and should NEVER be needed. If truth can not be told for whatever reason then you can remain silent.
Not wettlaufer .. he lies about everything to the voters of Holland. He too should be investigated.

It ain't gone happen...
gun nut, you are right, but don't hold your breath!
Judge Ponser missed the boat on Gleason before, in his Nov. 19, 2008 ruling in the Bunn case, Judge Ponsor wrote, “Gleason was merely engaging in routine and competent police work in following up on rumors, eventually borne out, that Plantiffs had marijuana at this home.”
The "rumors" were an affidavit (sworn statement) based on -later, but before adjudication- documented lies. Bunn's constitutional rights were ignored (the right to be save in his home, save from unjustified search and seizures).

Whether Ponser subscribes to being corrupt or ignorant about the law, I don't know. However, he does not know constitutional law and I do know this as a fact. To expect him to serve justice under these circumstances is ludicrous. I know what I'm talking about and can prove this statement if necessary, I'm not making such an allegation lightly...

Inventory Highway Department
I say lets go and do a complete inventoy of every tool and building supply purchased by our highway department. We should scrutinize every purchase made out town highway department. Lord knows it hasn't gone on our roads
Brian Johnson and his family have done alot of contracting on former town land where some of the Johnsons now live.
Brian Johnson runs a contracting business on the side and I would bet there are tools and materials on his personal truck purchased by us taxpayers.

Earl is known to use town assets for personal gain and I will bet Wettlaufer has alot of graft from the recent develpment he is facillitating in town.

Lets find each and every tool, computer, etc purchased by our town in the past 5 years.

How do the selectmen sign a warrent allowing our police chief to purchase a machine gun. ????

Thats what they did.

It was nice to see Selectman Johnson showed up to support Gleason at his sentencing.

Cuz you know everyone needs to know when it'll be safe on the streets again. Have fun with your new life.. All my domestic problems could have been avoided if you had assisted and done your job when asked.. I wouldn't have had to move to the next town over into another state in order to keep my gun rights. the scary thing is public allows people like you rights to a firearm and look @ the mess you've made. Next time you steal from the evidence locker take the 1/4 pound of weed next to the cash! Haha you took the bait instead.. Almost feels like you've been set up doesn't it.. How's it feel? I'll tell you how I felt after I got arrested for my Hunting rifle.. It didn't feel good. I shivered, shit and puked for 2 days and didn't want to go outside scared people were gonna look @ me like criminal.. welcome to my world now. The difference between you and me is... Your agency has labeled me as a criminal. They have you (MARKED) as a criminal! Don't worry you won't be alone in there. I have friends there.. I'm gonna let them know your come'n. Jesse,
Kevin did in fact screw up, and it was a big screw up!!I must say though you think you are never in the wrong! You always push the envelope and think you are above the law! You stated that you were sick and puked for 2 days because you got arrested? How could this be??Im sure it wasnt the first time! You have the ego of Mike Tyson but in reality you are a pint size punk! Grow up and move on! The one thing you can give Kevin credit for is that he plead guilty and admitted he was in the wrong! It doesnt make what he did right but you have to give credit where its due! Why dont you try admitting your guilt next time your on the other side of the law!

Criminal
Too scared to sign your name? Why is that???

I say if Jesse really is a criminal we should treat him like the rest of the criminals in town and appoint him to the head of the police or highway dept. Or maybe we should give his mother 12 acres of landlocked land and let them build on it like the Johnsons did.

Next time you want to pick on some criminals I would start going to the selectmans meetings. There is always someone there who is stealing from the town!

Don't be scared, sign your name and open yourself up to critics.

Suicidal early birds
While taking a pre-dawn walk along the lake may sound like great exercise, it is also flirting with an accident about to happen.

The latest fad in Holland these days is for friends to pair up and walk in the darkness on Mashapaug Rd, thinking they are protected and safe because they have a flashlight and reflective vest. The only thing they seem to have forgotten is a sidewalk.

The road is among the narrowest and darkest in the area, yet these death-wishers walk along invisibly to an oncoming car until the last moment. It is only a matter of time before an ambulance will be needed to take them away, unfortunately.

Joggers have decided to join the dare-devil club and can be found running along the same road, as well as others, also unseen by approaching vehicles until very close.

Not to be left out are the mothers with strollers and kids on skateboards. While it's great to be out in the fresh air, has common sense totally left these people?

Motorist should always be on the lookout for pedestrians and yield to them, true. This is not to say that pedestrians have free reign to do with the roads as they wish. The baseball field is only a short distance away and provides plenty of acreage to walk in safety.

I really don't want to read about an accident that could have been avoided.

Both th FBI & the ACLU should look at the Federal Case "Bunn v.s. Gleason
To All Concerned,

You should take a look at captainjoint.com . You will find Kevin Gleason's deposition (and agent Scott Haley's) posted there.

Both the FBI and the ACLU have been contacted about this case and have failed to do their jobs.

I am a medical marijuana patient and activist. I lived in Holland in 2003 and Kevin Gleason and his friends tried to shut me up by setting me up for selling pot (claimed three buys in an affidavit-used that and newspaper clippings and a letter to the editor I wrote as "evidence" to get warrant) this led to a swat type raid on my children and grandchildren while I was one day out of surgery.

Long story short- I was in the hospital when they claimed I made the sales, I was never charged and all charges brought against my wife and daughter were dismissed. This led to a civil suite that was blocked and dismissed by a lower court judge Ponsor. I could not afford to continue the case to appeal at a projected cost of another $17,000.00 and Holland town lawyers and the Judge helped to cover Gleason's crimes. The C.I #62 they claimed to have either does not exist or is a Michael Zelonis who was arrested on my Holland property on Oct 30, 2002 for various charges. He was being allowed to take wood from my property, and my wife and I were away when he was arrested. This person was in jail when the police claimed they sat at the bottom of my driveway three nights with an informant.

I have tried to get both the FBI and the ACLU involved in this case. Now more of Gleason's crimes are coming to light, you may want to follow your story up with mine about Gleason and mention I am trying to get the FBI (I do have a tip # 2262295 assigned to Gleason by FBI.GOV) and the ACLU (They said they would look into it when all criminal charges were dismissed but have failed to do so, I have contacted them many times.) to look at this case.

A bit more publicity on this story may spur them to action.

If you are interested please give me a call at: 207 965 2341.

I now live in Maine in a Church where we have sane medical marijuana laws.

Gleason and his pals drove us out of our home in Holland.

Thank You,

David Bunn

I can't wait till Earl goes to Jail
They go to Jaill all around our "Earl" of Johnsonville.

He is the guy I would most like to see led out of the town hall in handcuffs. But I would settle for tar and feathers.

Concerning Suicidal Earlybirds
Those two women have walked that route for over ten years...always with reflective vests and flashlights. The only way a driver wouldn't see them is if the vehicle had inoperable headlights or the driver had an impairment. I imagine driving well over the speed limit would also have an effect on seeing pedestrians. Which category do you fall into? Monitor yourself.
