Former Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly scolded Holland selectboard for by-law change restricting farm activities.

Demonstration-of-a-novelty,-the-first-steam-powered-saw.
A lot of the taxpayer’s money is spent in an attempt to prove what chairman of the Board of Selectman James Wettlaufer can’t let go of; that James LaMountain after all is just a farmer.

A letter mailed from the Attorney General’s Office sheds new light on the controversy, the former Attorney General scolded town officials for their proposed by-laws which are “inconsistent with State Law,” if necessary special permits would be denied to applicants!

What's up with that steam powered saw?

What else does the letter from the GA’s office say?

Oh My God!
Let me get this straight. The town and taxpayers are paying for the town to further participate in this lawsuit to decide an issue or issues that have already been decided by judges and the courts? Oh my!!
Wettlaufer and Johnson are allowed to spend taxpayer money to save illegal homes, and stop a person from asserting his given rights and are using the tax payers money to continue those battles? Oh My!!
And they pay a "super" lawyer 300 + an hour to ask questions of this caliber? Oh My!!
Why isn’t the lady who has a problem with the farm, or Wettlaufer who uses the excuse of "concern" for the public safety footing this bill personally? Why are tax payers footing their bills for this. Where is the taxpayer outrage at this?
Why are not the Johnson clan defending their property rights if they are right. Why is the town tax dollar financing their battle?
Tea Partiers of Holland unite. Stop watching Fox news just long enough to see what is going on here. Stop worrying about that black guy 1000 miles away spending your money and start paying attention to the old white guys in your own town misappropriating your tax dollars to fight personal agendas at your expense. Let your voices be heard.
Join this fight and protest the spending of your tax dollars pursuing personal vendettas against your fellow towns people. There has to be a mechanism to stop them from using YOUR money to fight personal battles. Send them a message and fight the battle right here in your hometown where you can actually begin to stop the corruption.

Chill
Wow Peter; Many people who read this blog and know who the players are understand the frustration you and Jim must feel on a daily basis. However, it is imperitive that you and Jim maintain a unitifed front while communicating on this blog should you wish to encourage any change in Holland and the political machine that has held it within its steel fists for so long. I agree that Jim needs to "cool it" a bit and stay focused on only the issues presented and use the 6th of the month to vent concerns that have not been touched upon over the past month, however you should communicate this with him privately! Your letter tells me there is a chink in the armor so to speak and that the powers to be are winning the war! Your town has a very corrupt government. The only weapon you have is getting the information out as to how corrupt to as many people as possible. After your last comment I’m sure the communications between people will be along the lines of "Did you see Peter blast Jim?"! As a long time reader of your blog, I have felt the frustration of your citizens. As an outsider of Holland I am greatful that my town has none of the corruption you speak of. As a Massachusetts resident I am appauled that the AG’s office has not stepped up to investigate the situation! As a person offering advise I’d tell you to take it easy when addressing "YOUR CONSTITUENTS" and the people who play on "YOUR TEAM"

So Sad!
Oh My! What was in the original post seemed to me to be important and worthy of further discussion and comments. I posted a reasonable comment outlining what Peters main post related to and asked people to join in and comment or act on the information in the post and look at what happens.
Instead of readers discussing the original post and the ramifications of it, or what more can be done about it, or providing more substantive information or comments or anything else of substance for that matter, the discussion devolves into a meaningless back and forth about NOTHING. So Sad!!
It is little wonder that the town officials are never held accountable for their actions. In fact they are probably sitting back chuckling as the opposition fights amongst themselves driving away any who might be interested in doing something or learning more. And that is really sad!!
I hesitate to post this because all it will do is give Lamountain another chance to climb up on his platform and spout off Glen Beck style with more of the same. I feel sorry for him, Peter, and all the innocent residents of Holland. Something could be done if the residents of Holland pulled together. I doubt that will happen the way the discourse goes here. So So Sad!!

Up and running again..
I had a problem with a corrupt file on the server and was unable to delete single comments for a couple of days. As it was a bug in the pearl script causing the problem, it took me a while to fix it.
A certain individual I trusted and informed about the problem took advantage of the situation and I had to remove all the comments to this piece.
I'm not interested in this kind of destructive exchange, I'm asking this individual to just stay away from this Blog and my person.
The Blog is again 100% functioning; better than ever before.
However, I do not know when I will allow leaving comments again.
If you feel the urge to leave a comment, call me and I will unlock the Blog for a short time so you can leave your comment and then block it again. It is unfortunate that I have to do this to protect other people and myself from personal attacks of the lowest kind.
I also decided not to update the "Trash Bin" any longer. It is not worth my time to give this trash my attention.

Mr. Wettlaufer
James P. LaMountain emailed me this picture:
some-contented-hogs-on-LaMountain's-farm-in-Holland.”
The caption to the picture reads, “Contented hogs taste better.”
Mr. Wettlaufer, isn’t it amazing to what extent Mr. LaMountain is willing to go to “pretend” that he is a farmer?
Mr. Wettlaufer, maybe he is a farmer ?~!~? click here!
