Riddle (no.4)

It was an anonymous caller who informed me that Brian Johnson and his crew filled in all the potholes and graded the private way leading up to the Holland Rod and Gun Club.

According to the caller, the Holland Rod and Gun Club was going to have their fishing derby the following weekend (May 15-16) at the pond on their property.
This picture was taken on May 22, 2010 and shows the private way also known as South Wales Road free of any potholes: Private Way “South Wales Road” towards the Rod and Gun Club This picture shows clearly the different color of the material that was hauled in to grade the private road. Private Way “South Wales Road” towards the Rod and Gun Club This picture shows Maybrook Road, a public road, on the same day, May 22, 2010, one week after the fishing derby: Maybrook Road towards the Hamilton Reservoir It is understandable that residents living along Maybrook Road are feed-up with the performance of Brian Johnson’s Highway Department and frustrated to see that a private way serving only a private club has higher priority as a public way such as Maybrook Road.

Here is another example, Lakeridge Drive, a private road which is serving about 70 residents:
I am very familiar with Lakeridge Drive off of Mashapaug Road. I have been driving into the same potholes for the last three years. Here is a picture of the potholes looking towards Mashapaug Road: Private Way “Lakeridge Drive” looking towards Mashapaug Road The only work being done to Lakeridge Drive over the last three years was done by Christine McCooe’s boyfriend using a private Bobcat. Christine McCooe is just one of the app. 70 people living along Lakridge Drive.

Here are the questions:

  1. Did Brian Johnson and his crew fix the private way leading up to the Rod and Gun Club instead of Maybrook Road because the gravel had a different color than Maybrook Road?
  2. Are members of the Holland Rod and Gun Club mostly friends of Brian and voters and Brian want to keep them happy so they vote for him? (Brian is also a member of the club.)
  3. Did Brian between May 17 and May 24 (the day of the annual town meeting) focus on preparing answers to possible questions asked by taxpayers to justify the purchase of a new Dump Truck for which the town will borrow $172,525 and had no time to work on any roads? Nobody had a question, I think I was the only one who voted against the unnecessary expense.

Who ever posts the first comment with the right answer will be treated to a pizza at Enrico’s in Sturbridge at my expense!!

As always, town officials are not allowed to participate, that would be too easy.....
